Limbaugh knows who to blame for Sanford's affair: Obama

Everyone knows the only way to deal with the stress of impending socialist doom is to see your Argentine girlfriend

Boy, we knew President Obama's dangerous, angry rhetoric of hope and change -- not to mention his steady march towards socialism -- was affecting the country in all sorts of bad ways. But who knew it could actually force people to fly to foreign countries to continue affairs?

That's what Rush Limbaugh believes anyway. Via Steve Benen, the radio host's explanation for why Obama is responsible for South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's mysterious disappearance to Argentina:

The best way to put it: He's trying to kill spirit. All this hope and change, he's trying to kill it .... This Sanford buisness, I gotta tell you, one of the first thoughts that crossed my mind ... What he did defies logic. This is more than being 180 degrees out of phase because of lust or love ... This is almost like, "I don't give a damn, the country's going to Hell in a handbasket, I just want out of here." He had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn't want any part of it; he lost the battle. He said, 'What the hell. I mean, the federal government's taking over -- what the hell, I want to enjoy life."
