Who wouldn't want to spend their birthday with Senate Dems?

President Obama's birthday lunch will involve talking healthcare with 60 senators

I've heard of some bad ways to spend your birthday, but President Obama's lunch tomorrow -- his 48th birthday -- takes the cake. (Sorry.)

Yes, Obama will be lunching on Tuesday with the Senate Democrats. All 60 of them. (Well, all 58 of them, plus the two independents who caucus with them. And presumably, senators who've been ill, like Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd, might not make it.) They're scheduled to talk about, among other things, healthcare reform -- the economy is also likely to come up.

So why that lunch on Obama's birthday? Asked that question at his press briefing Monday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs quipped, "Chuck E. Cheese was booked."
