Chile's government says a bore hole for an eventual rescue has reached 33 trapped miners.

Atacama region Gov. Ximena Matas says the T130 probe has reached the cavern where the miners have been trapped since Aug. 5.

Officials plan now to widen the hole so that the miners can be pulled through it. That effort is likely to take more than six weeks.
