A woman loading her 2-year-old child into a vehicle has been killed and five others wounded in a shooting at a strip mall in south Sacramento.
Sacramento Sheriff's Department Sgt. Tim Curran says two men were in a barber shop just before 1 p.m. Tuesday when two other men came in and started shooting. Curran said the men in the barber shop were also armed and returned fire.
The gun battle then apparently moved into the parking lot, where Curran said a bullet struck a woman putting her 2-year-old into her Chevrolet SUV. The child was unhurt.
Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong says at least one person suffering from a gunshot wound has been taken to a local hospital.
