Jon Stewart: Who will save America's least helpless?

"The Daily Show" parodies right-wing fear of the top marginal tax rate

Since President Obama unveiled his new tax plan earlier this week -- one that would raise taxes on the just the wealthiest of Americans -- the Fox News set has staked out a predictably antagonistic position. Entreaties to "think of the job creators" have been prevalent, and cries of "class warfare" all but deafening. Jon Stewart expertly lampooned the position on "The Daily Show" last night, in a segment that recalled the most maudlin of television infomercials.

Hi, I'm Jon Stewart. Will you be an angel for a helpless mutlimillionaire? Every day, James Merriweather Phillips -- "Meester James" to his domestic staff -- and thousands more like him live in fear that the top marginal tax rate will be raised from its 35 percent to 39.6 percent. But you can help. For just most of what you earn in a year, you can help James make up that difference. Call now ... because he wants the money now."
