BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say a series of bomb blasts targeting homes of police officers have killed one child and wounded nine people northeast of Baghdad.
The officials say the explosions were caused by roadside bombs planted near three houses belonging to security officers in Baqouba as families were sleeping early on Wednesday.
Baqouba is 35 miles (60 kilometers) northeast of Baghdad,
A medical official in Baqouba hospital confirmed the casualty toll. All the officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
Iraqi officials have warned of a resurgence of Sunni and Shiite militants and an increase in violence after the U.S. troop withdrawal.
