NEW YORK (AP) — A jeweler says a big diamond snatched in a $20 million London robbery in 2007 has popped up in a Hong Kong pawn shop, and the jeweler's suing in New York to try to get it back.
Graff Diamonds Ltd. says the more than 16-carat yellow diamond was among those snatched in a July 2007 holdup at a Graff shop in London.
The lawsuit, filed last week, says the Hong Kong shop later submitted the diamond for grading to the Gemological Institute of America. The lawsuit says the New York-based nonprofit has determined the diamond is Graff's stolen stone, but the pawn shop won't let the gem institute return it.
There was no answer or voice mail at the Hong Kong shop. The institute declines to discuss the matter.
