VALDEZ, Alaska (AP) — The snow-heaped Alaska town of Valdez is looking to hire more people to help with a continuing effort to dig out from more than 322 inches of snow this winter.
More than 170 people have been recruited to help remove snow when they've had time.
City spokeswoman Holly Powers says another 50 workers are needed to replace those who are no longer available.
The wage being offered is $20.30 an hour. Officials say applicants must be at least 18. They also must be fully equipped with winter gear and able to do very strenuous work.
The National Weather Service says the city's snowfall is 168 inches above a normal winter snowfall. The forecast for the town is dry and windy for the next week.
