SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Charges have been dropped against the son of a murder victim after detectives linked the case to a suspected California serial killer.
An Orange County judge dismissed the charges against 24-year-old Eder Herrerra on Friday. Herrerra was arrested shortly after his mother and brother were found stabbed to death in October.
On Thursday, investigators said they linked Itzcoatl (itz-KWAH'-tuhl) Ocampo to the fatal stabbings and that Ocampo was associated with Herrera.
Ocampo is charged with stabbing to death four homeless men in a killing spree that terrorized Orange County in December and January.
