WALPOLE, N.H. (AP) — A southwestern New Hampshire town where a teen shot himself in the face in a crowded school cafeteria is trying to answer questions about it a day later, including how he got a gun into school.
Officials say the 14-year-old shot himself around 11 a.m. Friday at Walpole Elementary. He is identified by a relative and fellow students as Hunter Mack. A county attorney tells The Associated Press that the teen might have been upset about a "relationship issue."
Walpole resident Max Imhoff said Saturday that there was a pall over the town.
Investigators plan to interview students, staff and teachers to try to determine how the boy got the gun and how he got it into school.
Superintendent Debra Livingston says school will go on as scheduled Monday.
