NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana man has pleaded guilty to murder in the August 2009 shooting of a Pillsbury plant co-worker after allegedly crashing his car through the plant's security gate.
The deal Monday recommends that 45-year-old Freddie Love of Jeffersonville receive a 55-year prison sentence for the slaying of 48-year-old Christopher Trowell.
Police say Love fatally shot Trowell near the plant's loading dock after chasing him from a nearby residence where Love allegedly fired gunshots outside.
The Courier-Journal reported Tuesday ( ) that Floyd Superior Court records show Floyd County Deputy Prosecutor Timothy Gray agreed to drop a charge of criminal recklessness.
Love and Trowell worked together at Pillsbury. Trowell was on the way home after work when he encountered Love's vehicle and returned to the plant.
