SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Two people with knowledge of negotiations between the United States and North Korea tell The Associated Press that Pyongyang's top nuclear negotiator is heading to New York next week.
Word of Ri Yong Ho's visit follows Wednesday's announcement of a deal between the U.S. and North Korea.
The deal calls for the U.S. to provide food aid in exchange for a suspension of uranium enrichment and a moratorium on nuclear and long-range missile tests by North Korea.
Two people with close knowledge of Ri's itinerary tell The Associated Press that the North Korean envoy will attend a security forum at Syracuse University in New York. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the negotiations.
