SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google co-founder Larry Page has ruminated about his past year as CEO and mused about the challenges ahead in an unusual dispatch that he shared Thursday.
Page posted his reflections on Google's website for investors and on his personal profile on the company's social network, Google Plus. That service has become Page's pet project as he scrambles to counter the threat posed by Facebook's growing popularity.
Page replaced his mentor, Eric Schmidt, as Google's CEO a year ago.
Thursday's post covered mostly familiar ground about Page's efforts to sharpen Google's focus and his commitment to create products that improve people's lives.
But it was a bit of a departure for Page, who doesn't share his thoughts about Google Inc. as frequently as Schmidt did during his decade as Google's CEO.
