Even the Obama campaign has capitalized on Romney's "Big Bird" comment during last week's presidential debate, coming out today with an ad depicting Big Bird as a corrupt business executive. “Mitt Romney knows it isn’t Wall Street you need to worry about, it’s Sesame Street," says the narrator in a foreboding tone.
But the real Big Bird isn't amused. The Sesame Workshop released the following statement in response to the character's appearance in any type of campaign ad:
Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads and, as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.
