Philip Seymour Hoffman, the "Capote" Oscar winner and star of films including "Boogie Nights," "Charlie Wilson's War," and "The Master," has told the gossip site TMZ that he has successfully completed ten days in a detox facility after snorting heroin.
Hoffman claims that his drug use slowly escalated after a period of using prescription pills, and that he only used heroin for about a week; he thanked "a great group of friends and family" for their support.
The actor, one of the most critically beloved of his generation and a longtime fixture on the indie scene, is next to be seen in a key role in the "Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire."
