The Strand Magazine will today publish a previously unreleased short story by "Catch-22" author Joseph Heller, "Almost Like Christmas."
Strand Magazine editor Andrew Gulli, who found the story in the Brandeis University library archives, told NPR via email that the story "has a lot of the dark and cynical view that Heller had of mankind but since it was an early piece it didn't have his trademark humor."
The story is a dark tale about "the primordial brutality of an alley fracas." It is available by subscription only.
