Following the footsteps of BFF Ben Affleck, Matt Damon is planning his directorial debut with "A Foreigner," which will be written by Affleck's "Argo" screenwriter, Chris Terrio. "Argo" won best picture and best adapted screenplay at the Oscars last year.

"A Foreigner" is based on David Grann's New Yorker article, "A Murder Foretold," about a successful corporate attorney who, realizing he was going to be killed, made a video accusing the country's president and first lady of orchestrating the attack.

As the Huffington Post notes, Damon has "has long been searching for a directing gig," recently passing up Gus Van Sant's "Promised Land" to act in Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi movie "Elysium."
