Couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially broken off their engagement. Cyrus and Hemsworth met in 2009 when they both starred in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel “The Last Song.” They starting dating shortly after.
People have been speculating whether or not there was a problem with their relationship, but in June, the singer and actress denied the rumors. She said how they are busy doing different things. He was working on the film “Paranoia,” and she was working on her new album so they weren’t seen in the press all the time.
Despite this, people still had some doubt. Miley has also had some controversy surrounding her that has made people question how Liam was taking it and if it put any strain on their relationship. Her VMA performance of dancing in very little clothing and twerking and her new video for “Wrecking Ball” where she is naked and licking the sledgehammer had people shocked.
After all of that, when it was announced that they had actually broken up and it wasn’t just a rumor, a lot of people’s reactions were, “Yeah, I’m not surprised.” However, it has not been confirmed if those two events had anything to do with the breakup. For all we know, it could be completely unrelated. This past weekend, Miley Cyrus stopped following Liam Hemsworth on Twitter, and shortly after that the official announcement was released. Neither of their representatives gave a reason for the split. They may give a reason to the media at a later time, but for right now, we don’t know.
The two stars will continue to do their own thing. Liam Hemsworth has the upcoming premiere of “Catching Fire,” the sequel to the “Hunger Games.” And Miley Cyrus will continue to promote her new album as well as other things.
