Stephen Colbert spoofs Cheerios ad

Cereal isn't just something you eat when you're in a hurry. It's a way to connect to your dead grandmother

In one short commercial parody, Stephen Colbert has successful mocked both commercials that take themselves too seriously and company messaging that exploits tragedy or personal loss.

Until recently, Cheerios commercials were, like the cereal, relatively bland, featuring smiling moms and kids who believe they're eating heart-healthy. Then they got all 1960s counterculture-y and featured a biracial girl with a black dad and white mom. Now, thanks to Colbert, Cheerios can bring you closer to the spirit of your grandmother:
