Liz Cheney released her first television ad on Wednesday, a feel-good family-focused spot called "Generations" that highlights the Cheney family's deep roots in Wyoming while promoting Cheney's exceedingly wholesome home life.

The ad's release comes on the heels of a recent poll showing the former vice president's daughter trailing the GOP incumbent, Mike Enzi, by a whopping 53 points.

Cheney has been on the defensive for most of the campaign against charges that she supports gay marriage. Cheney's sister Mary is gay while her father, Dick Cheney, has long been known to support same-sex marriage.

Cheney, for her part, has been cagey as to whether or not she personally supports same-sex marriage, opting instead to say that she believes it's an issue best left to the states.
