Courtney Love, the rock singer, actress, and '90s style icon, maintains an active presence on Twitter, where she shared images of the open ocean near the Malaysian island of Pulau Perak, with what she claimed were the shadow of a submerged plane and an oil slick.
She used Tomnod, a website that uses satellite images of earth in order to crowdsource information; she then shared the image with a hand-drawn "C-L" watermark via Twitter.

This is not Love's first foray into detective work; a 2011 Vanity Fair profile by Nancy Jo Sales, for instance, focused on the singer's attempt to deduce who, exactly, had defrauded her of the fortune of Kurt Cobain, Love's late husband. (Love took her suspicions public even further, to her detriment: Tweets she sent alleging a former attorney of hers had been "bought off" led to a legal battle that Love ultimately won.)
These tweets are unlikely to bring Love legal repercussions, though there is the question of good taste. Then again, Love crossed that rubicon decades ago -- she really doesn't care what you think! -- and there's that shadow of a question. What if she's right? On the day CNN gave up and asked whether the jet's disappearance might be "supernatural," anything seems possible.
