No Labels, the bland advocacy group that wants to advance a center-right agenda of social insurance cuts and tax reform – but civilly, of course – reached new heights of inanity on Wednesday when it endorsed both candidates in Iowa’s hotly contested Senate race.

It’s unclear what kind of voter would see both Democrat Bruce Braley and Republican Joni Ernst as equally acceptable candidates. Braley is the progressive founder of the House Populist Caucus; Ernst is a far-right Republican who has flirted with abolishing the minimum wage and who traffics in loony conspiracy theories. According to the New York Times’ rating system, the two candidates are the furthest apart ideologically of any candidates running for Senate this year. But #NoLabels!
