British model, T-Swift bestie and upcoming “Suicide Squad” cast-member Cara Delevingne has spoken out about sexism in superhero movies in a recent interview with U.K. magazine Empire.

The up-and-coming actress, who stars alongside Ben Affleck, Jared Leto and Will Smith in 2016’s DC comics film “Suicide Squad,” prefaced her remarks by saying that her own foray into comic book movies is sort of an exception to the rule. As she put it: “There are only three girls in ["Suicide Squad"] but in my opinion they have the best roles.” (Actresses Margot Robbie and Karen Fukuhara round out the trio)

Delevingne then aimed her criticisms at one female superhero specifically: Wonder Woman, who will be one of the few female superheroes to get a standalone feature film, starring Gal Gadot, in 2017. “Generally though, superhero movies are totally sexist,” Delevingne continued. "Female superheroes are normally naked or in bikinis. No one would be able to fight like that. Wonder Woman, how the hell does she fight? She would be dead in a minute.”

Delevingne isn’t a lone voice in the chorus here. Superhero movies have come under fire a lot recently, both for the abysmal lack of female roles and the sexualization and trivialization of female characters when they do appear. Many criticized the recent "Avengers" film for what they saw as a sexist depiction of Black Widow (not to mention the fact that the character was repeatedly slut-shamed by her fellow cast-members during the press tour) while director Joss Whedon himself has spoken out about the dearth of female superheroes, saying "there is genuine, recalcitrant, intractable sexism, and old-fashioned, quiet misogyny that goes on. There’s always an excuse."

Then again, speaking purely on the outfit front, Delevingne did just don a skin-tight leotard and stilettos to wield nunchucks a Taylor Swift video, so take that part with a grain of salt.
