Sandra Bland’s family laid her to rest at an Illinois funeral service this morning. Hundreds arrived at a small church in Lisle to remember the African-American woman who died in a Texas jail after being arrested for a minor traffic violation.
Police say she committed suicide in her cell; Bland’s family disputes that.
