Ted Cruz guested on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" Thursday night.
Not known to be much of a political wonk, Fallon left the door open for Cruz to explain how he'd win a second ballot at a contested convention.
"If that happens, I think we're gonna be in a much better position," Cruz said. "I think Donald's highest total will be on the first ballot" but on subsequent ballots his campaign would be better capable of absorbing Rubio's and Kasich's unpledged delegates.
Asked if he'd support Trump as nominee, Cruz said, "I am working very, very hard not to have to answer that question."
