In an effort to draw attention away from these dash-compelling United States presidential elections, HBO hosted what it called a "GOT Party," in which viewers of "Game of Thrones" were encouraged to vote for candidates from the network's popular drama.
When the results were tallied, Jon Snow and Lyanna Mormont (35 percent) won by a hair over Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister (32 percent) and Petyr Baelish and Sansa Stark (31 percent) — all of whom, it should be noted, crushed the Cersei Lannister/Qyburn ticket, which mustered a mere 2 percent of the vote.
To celebrate the Snow/Mormont victory, HBO produced an official campaign ad — available above — and Kyle Gass, the non-Jack Black half of Tenacious D, wrote a tribute to their victory called "Ode to Snow":
