From Jimmy Kimmel's point of view, Mike Huckabee might actually have the comedic chops to make people laugh. But it's the medium, Twitter, that is preventing the former governor of Arkansas from connecting with his audience. Huckabee has been showing off his sense of humor a lot lately, but the comedy hasn't really resonated with many people.

"Every day he writes jokes, but like a lot of great comedy voices, not everyone gets it," Kimmel explained Thursday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Despite all of the teasing and ridicule he has received the past few weeks, Huckabee seems committed to telling lame jokes on Twitter.

"Maybe he's right," Kimmel responded. "Maybe it is over our heads. Maybe these jokes are great. Maybe what Mike Huckabee needs is a stronger presentation." "Jokes don't always have the same punch when you read them to yourself." To bring these jokes to life, Kimmel invited comedian Patton Oswalt on stage to read some of Huckabee's greatest hits.

Even though Oswalt struggled to elicit genuine laughs in his routine, Kimmel thought Huckabee may be on to something.

"See. Good material just works," Kimmel said, as the curtain closed on Oswalt.
