"The comedians are the ones you should look to for the truth, because we take no prisoners," comedian and writer Joy Behar told Salon's Alli Joseph on "Salon Talks."
"The View" co-host is author of a new book, "The Great Gasbag: An A-to-Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World," which offers an alphabetical guide to enduring the next four years with laughter.
"I was not in the industry for safety, it was not the reason I became a comedian," Behar said. She added that she's lost jobs because of her candor and refusal to filter her jokes depending on the stage or audience.
But as comedians, "that's what we do," Behar said. "We get fired, we move on, we say the next thing, we try to get a laugh, and it's an important role right now to have people like that who don't worry about whether they're going to get fired."
According to Behar, while comedians are not totally fearless, in general, they're far less scared than most people when it comes to employment and survival. In this vein, when discussing Trump, Behar explained why she holds nothing back.
"I'm exhausted from him," she admitted. "He's exhausting. Can you imagine working in that White House around this narcissist? With his semi-dementia he's got going on, he forgets what he's saying, every minute he's changing it around."
If Behar had to summarize his presidency, this would be it: "he's crazy."
