Fox News wants you to leave Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the official fact-manipulator for a less-than-universally liked presidential administration, alone. Fox News wants you to let her bake, pray and live.
Indeed, in the headline for an article published Tuesday on the Fox News website, the conservative outlet seemed to plead with the American public to stop victimizing the well-compensated mouthpiece for President Donald Trump. "Sarah Sanders does press, prays and makes pies. When will haters like Chelsea Handler leave her alone?" it read.
Journalist Lauren Duca was quick with an tidy answer on Twitter.
Idk, probably when she stops lying to the American people pic.twitter.com/ey6ySxYWSK

There you go then.
As you may recall, Duca is known for, according to her website, "her massively viral piece 'Donald Trump is Gaslighting America,' or a Fox News appearance opposite Tucker Carlson, during which she either emerged as a feminist hero or had a seizure on national television. It all depends on confirmation bias, really. "
Duca was far from alone on Twitter, in sharing rejoinders to the headline. Indeed, her pithy quote seemed to have kicked off a social-media flame game.

SHE SPECIFICALLY LIED ABOUT BAKING PIES — mmmmeh_gun mckaye (@mmmmeh_gun) December 6, 2017
Sarah Sanders may pray, but she also supports men who prey.

But that is her job! You cannot represent this administration by telling the truth — Dorit Murciano (@doritnyc) December 6, 2017
Shouldn't that read "bakes lies"?

These and the many more associated tweets point to a rather boorish trend seen across much of Fox News' content. In its fiery battle against the "mainstream liberal media," the channel often positions any criticism of the current administration as an attack on powerless victims (pie-baking ones included). But that's a hard sell, particularly when those "victims" happen to run the country.
