MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski blasted Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his “chilling” joke about ripping apart immigrant families.
The U.S. attorney general defended the controversial policy with attempts at humor while speaking at the conservative Criminal Justice Legal Foundation’s annual luncheon, and the “Morning Joe” co-host slammed everyone involved.
“That’s just not funny,” Brzezinski said. “Why were they laughing? What’s going on?”
She smacked Sessions for offering shifting explanations and justifications for the policy he enacted, and then later denied.
“(We’ve) got a lot of different versions of Jeff Sessions, first announcing the policy, then saying, well, he didn’t want families to be separated, and then joking about families being separated at the border,” Brzezinki said. “It’s not funny.”
The jokes about ripping families apart and jailing them separately went over well with the conservative crowd, which horrified Brzezinski.
“It’s chilling that they were laughing and clapping,” she said.
