What’s an astrophysicist’s role in war? Renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson will appear on “Salon Talks” on Tuesday, September 11 at 1 p.m. ET to have a conversation about where science meets modern warfare. His new book “Accessory to War: The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the Military,” explores how the universe has been used as both a laboratory and a battlefield across science, technology and power.

Also this week, prolific novelist and screenwriter Ian McEwan brings new understanding to the difficult question of who gets to decide life and death in complicated medical cases: God or man? He visits “Salon Talks” for the film adaptation of his book “The Children Act.” The film stars Stanley Tucci and Emma Thompson and is playing now on DIRECTV and in theaters nationwide September 14.

SalonTV will talk new movies with writer-director Nicole Holofcener and director Judy Greer. Greer is making her directorial debut with “A Happening of Monumental Proportions,” starring Allison Janney, Common and Bradley Whitford, and Holofcener has a new Netflix film "The Land of Steady Habits," which explores life in the suburbs and stars Edie Falco, Connie Britton and Ben Mendelsohn.

Singer-songwriter Amos Lee, who is in New York for a show at the Beacon Theater, stops by the “Salon Stage” to performs a live acoustic set of songs off his new album “My New Moon.”

Plus, activist and “Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger” author Soraya Chemaly taps into why women are angry today. From being underpaid, to overworked, to being called too big or too thin—Chemaly covers every criticism women receive and why it’s time for women to own them all and re-focus the conversation.
