Florida Republican Congressman Michael Waltz was “surprised” by sexist comments made by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, unearthed over the weekend by Media Matters for America, for which Carlson refuses to apologize.

CNN host John Berman noted that Waltz was a frequent guest on Carlson’s show, and read some of the host’s ugly comments about Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan’s looks.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Berman said, referring to Carlson’s dismissive thoughts on statutory rape. “Does it give you pause going on his show knowing that he said this?

“Well, look, he’s never said anything like that to me or around me,” Waltz said. “I grew up with a single mother. I’m the dad of a little girl.”

“I am a huge proponent of girl’s education, of women’s empowerment,” Waltz added, who then abruptly changed the subject to ISIS.
