Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson has requested an immediate hearing for Roger Stone on Thursday after prosecutors told the court that the defendant had violated his gag order, Politico’s Darren Samuelsohn reported.
Prosecutors said that Stone had discussed his case openly on Instagram and Facebook in recent days and called for the media to cover it. This is in violation of the gag order Jackson issued after Stone posted an apparently threatening Instagram image of the judge’s face, according to the prosecutors. They are now asking Jackson to consider modifying Stone’s “conditions of release” — suggesting his apparent breach of the gag order could justify putting him in jail until his trial.
Stone is currently facing charges of obstructing justice, tampering with a witness, and lying to Congress as a result of his actions during former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
