As any Star Wars fan not only knows but has been anticipating for what feels like forever is the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World on August 29th. Whether you’re celebrating at home with fellow true blue fans or your making the pilgrimage to Orlando for the Star Wars Land launch in person, here are the steps to follow to secure everything you need to make the most of this momentous occasion.

Get the necessary gear

No matter where or how you’re celebrating, gear is essential for the full experience. While only kiddos 13 and under can wear full costumes to the park, anyone can don a Star Wars hat, t-shirt, or backpack and luckily there are plenty of places far and wide to scoop up exactly that. For party hosts who really want to go all out, you can even scoop up a Star Wars themed waffle maker or picnic table to take the experience to the next level. There’s also, of course, the classic lightsaber accessory—if you haven’t bought one yet, what are you waiting for?

Purchase park tickets

Set on the planet Batuu not yet seen in films and outfitted with two rides including one called Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run where adventurers can virtually fly on the infamous spaceship on an interactive smuggling mission, tickets are naturally a coveted item.

In order to get in on the fun, fans will just need to purchase a valid theme park admission—right now a reservation is not required to visit Galaxy’s Edge and Disney’s FastPass+ service won’t be offered for the park. That might change depending on just how crazy things get so be sure to check back frequently before your visit.

Devise travel plans

Now that you’ve got tickets in hand, it’s time to chart out how you’ll get there and where you’ll stay for the best possible Disney World experience during your stay.

Unless you’re lucky enough to have an unlimited budget, getting a good deal on flights is the best way to save a little coin and luckily there are plenty of services that do just that. One of the best discount airlines in the business, Southwest, also flies to Orlando from all over the U.S. The best part? They don’t charge for baggage, so you’ll have plenty of room to bring back all the souvenirs you want.

Book a hotel

When it comes to deciding where to stay, Tripadvisor has a great list of the ten best hotels near Disney World which is a great place to start your hotel search. Since you’ll be spending most of your time at the park and largely just sleeping in your room, getting a good deal on an affordable hotel is another good way to balance the cost of park tickets for those on a budget.
