American Spring: Exploring Untold History with Oliver Stone

Salon Core is proud to announce the latest event in our American Spring series: Exploring Untold History -- Oliver Stone and David Talbot discuss Hollywood, the Kennedy assassinations and global political upheaval.

Join filmmaker Oliver Stone — director of films that include "Platoon," "Wall Street" and the documentary "South of the Border" – in conversation with Salon founder and CEO David Talbot. They will be discussing Stone’s upcoming Showtime series, "The Untold History of the United States" and his latest book, “On History: Tariq Ali and Oliver Stone in Conversation.”

Stone and Talbot will be exploring how these hidden chapters of American history provide context for the rapid emergence of the Occupy Movement and the prospects for this populist upheaval leading to an American Spring.

Additionally, Stone, who directed "JFK," and Talbot, who wrote the bestseller “Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years,” will discuss their investigations into the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy and their impact on American history. Expect a fearless dialogue between one of Hollywood’s most controversial figures and the author and entrepreneur hailed by Newsweek as “one of 50 people who matter most in the new media world.”

This event will take place at the Annenberg Beach House, 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, Calif., on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at 7:30 p.m.
