This is the time of year when my Jewish friends and I traditionally gather to ask questions. Why is this night different from all other nights? Why is it that on all other nights we eat bread, but on this night we eat only matzo? Etc. But always lingering there in the back of my mind is a question that has confounded rabbis and Talmudic scholars for centuries, one that over many late nights of Maccabi and Manischewitz my friends and I have tried to answer, but to no avail. The question: Who is the greatest Jewish rock musician? So I turn to you, Audiofile readers, to help find an answer to this age-old conundrum. First, a bit of explanation -- I say rock musicians, but pop/folk/jazz/Broadway/rap musicians are fine too, though you better explain yourself if you think Barbra Streisand trumps Bob Dylan. Also, the poll below lists 10 choices, but if there's someone you think deserves a vote who's not on the list, cast a write-in vote in the comments section. If you do decide to go with one of the musicians I've included in the poll, I'd love to know why. Again, use the comments section for your explanations. I'll post the winner on April 10, the last day of Passover. So cast a vote and help determine who's the chosen people's top choice.
