Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates returns to Salon to tell Mary Elizabeth Williams about his work with Movember, his single "Pushin' A Rock" and the time he sought out a therapist for his mental health. As one half of the record-setting duo Hall & Oates, the musician talks about his collaboration with Nathan Paul Chapman and how his earlier commercial success has allowed him to have total artistic freedom today. "I'm completely free to experiment, to collaborate, to try things, and I feel like I paid my dues to get it," Oates said.
