Author and poet Joshua Bennett shares his newest poetry collection, "Owed" with Salon's D. Watkins. Bennett, who is an associate professor at Dartmouth College, also discusses the deeply complicated side of writing about race.

"It's strange to me because the relationship is still extractive in some sense, right? I say this as someone that lived for a while in a pretty liberal part of Boston where there are Black Lives Matter signs everywhere, but you're looking at me wild when I walk down the street," Bennett said.
