Fifteen years after the US-led invasion of Iraq, the country continues to dominate the headlines with stories of sectarian violence, bombings, poverty and human displacement. Watch this exclusive clip from the documentary "Nowhere to Hide" above from Kurdish-Norwegian filmmaker Zaradasht Ahmed.
In 2011, Ahmed returned to his birth country, heading into one of the world's most dangerous areas, the "Triangle of Death" in central Iraq. As American troops withdrew, he followed nurse Nori Sharif and his family over five years as they navigated a war-torn country where a power vacuum left citizens vulnerable to a new, menacing force: ISIS.
The film has won international awards, including Best Feature Length Documentary at IDFA, Best Documentary at the One World Human Rights Festival, the Nestor Almendros Prize for courage in filmmaking at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival, and several other awards at film festivals.
"Nowhere to Hide" has its national broadcast and streaming debut on the PBS documentary series POV and pov.org on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings). POV is American television's longest-running independent documentary series now in its 31st season.
