Here's why Mississippi Democrat Jeramey Anderson plans to cut through the noise and actually create relationships across party lines. On "Salon Talks" with SalonTV's D. Watkins, Anderson makes the case why he's the right guy to unite lawmakers.

In 2013, Anderson became the youngest African American ever elected to a state legislature in U.S. history at the age of 23. This year he's trying to make history again, by defeating incumbent Mississippi Republican Rep. Steven Palazzo. Anderson is fighting an almost impossible battle, however, he feels his message of inclusion will connect both parties and give everyone a chance to be heard.

"We have a message that is encompassing, that doesn't isolate folks in the process," Anderson told SalonTV's D. Watkins. "We work better when we are all working together, and the fact that I understand that we are not always going to agree, but we have to be able to have tough conversations and not take it personally, for the betterment of our community."
