Sunny Hostin, the attorney and co-host of "The View," talks about how her experiences as a mixed-race woman have shaped the way she approaches her newest endeavor, writing historical fiction. "Growing up, I got the 'What are you?' question often. I've even had people say, 'Just say you're Latina. It's so much easier,'" Hostin said. "I do play with those themes because I think it's important to meet out those biases that we have within ourselves."
Hostin's newest book, "Summer on Sag Harbor," is available now. Her first novel was set in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard and her third will be set in Highland Beach, Maryland, where Frederick Douglass had his summer home.
