Jemele Hill, author of "Uphill: A Memoir," talks about her career in sports journalism, leaving ESPN and finally being able to speak her mind. Hill spoke to Salon's D. Watkins about what happened when she called out Donald Trump for being a white supremacist and why opening up is challenging for her. "I have struggled throughout my life with vulnerability," Hill said. "A lot of that came from having to survive certain things, having to grow up earlier than I should have. It caused me to build an armor around myself. I think that armor has been difficult to break."
