The Democratic Party's communications strategy is one of its biggest challenges, according to former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele. "Go out there and go stand in the grocery line and ask the person in front of you or behind you if they know [what the Democrats have accomplished]," he told Salon's Dean Obeidallah. "The only thing they know is that they just saw a 30% increase in their grocery bill. The only thing they know is that they paid an extra $2 more per gallon to get to the grocery store." Under the current political climate where abortion rights are under attack, Steele explains how Republicans are able to turn the discussion in their favor.
