Actor Andre Royo opens up about addiction and the dangers of attaching stigmas to addicts — all part of his performance in the one-man show #DrinkingInAmerica, written by three-time Obie Award winner #EricBogosian, performed at New York's #MinettaLaneTheatre and available now to listen to on Audible. Royo plays 12 different characters experiencing addiction in the show. He says the role came to him at a time when he was struggling. "I felt a sense of loneliness. I was really into drinking at that point and I just wasn't happy," Royo shared. Royo describes the moment he realized he needed to get sober and why this role and his role as Bubbles on "The Wire" have changed his outlook on addiction, masculinity and how we judge others.
