Alva Noe

Alva Noë is a writer and philosopher in Berkeley, California. He is the author of Out of Our Heads: Why You Are Not Your Brain and Other Lessons From The Biology Of Consciousness (Hill and Wang, 2009), and also Action In Perception (The MIT Press, 2004). Alva is actively interested in art and dance as a site for the study of mind and he has recently started a research collaboration with the choreographer William Forsythe and The Forsythe Company. He is now at work on a new book about art and human nature. Alva is a professor of philosophy at the University of California where he is also a member of the UC Berkeley Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences and the Berkeley Center for New Meda.
