Lara Hope Schwartz
Lara Hope Schwartz, JD, teaches in the Department of Government at American University School of Public Affairs (SPA) and is the Director of the Project on Civil Discourse. In teaching law and government, she draws on her experience as a legislative lawyer, lobbyist, and communications strategist in leading civil rights organizations. With Andrea Malkin Brenner, Schwartz is the author of "How To College: What to Know Before You Go (and When You’re There)" (St. Martin's Griffin; forthcoming April 23, 2019), the first practical guide of its kind, aimed to help first-year students devise a game plan leading up to their first semester; manage their time, expectations, and priorities once they are on campus; and, ultimately, navigate an exciting new chapter in lives.
