From their studios in Midtown Detroit, WDET 101.9FM creates and curates an award-winning mix of news, music and cultural content that is unique as the city and region they serve. Created Equal Team: Stephen Henderson is a nationally respected Detroit journalist. Henderson is the Managing Director of Opinion and Community Engagement at The Detroit Free Press and received the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary and National Association of Black Journalists Journalist of the Year in 2014. He currently hosts WDET’s daily talk show, Detroit Today. Stephen is also the host of Detroit Public Television’s American Black Journal and co-host of their weekly public affairs program MI Week. He was previously an editor for the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, and Lexington Herald-Leader, and spent five years covering the U.S. Supreme Court for Knight Ridder Newspapers. Laura Weber Davis is an award-winning reporter and the lead producer and occasional co-host of WDET’s Detroit Today. Weber-Davis has a passion for both history and sound-rich storytelling. She previously led WDET’s highly impactful multimedia series examining Detroit’s food economy, produced in partnership with WNYC.
