"Black Panther" is the hottest movie on the planet, earning $241.9 million over the long weekend and breaking multiple box office records. Its success means a lot to loyal Marvel fans and comic book enthusiasts everywhere, however, it may mean even more to Black America. There has never been a film starring a black hero, with black sidekicks, a mostly black cast, black director and even black costume designers. Africans and African Americans across the country dressed up in full Wakanda gear, including Kente cloth and gold trimmings as they stood on line with pride. Their excitement was equally yoked with the finished product––critics were right, the movie was smash success at the box office.
