The Deadpool universe returns with a more action-packed and quirkier sequel. "Deadpool" is a tough act to follow, given that it became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time in 2016. "Deadpool 2" director David Leitch, the stunt veteran turned director, revealed on "Salon Talks" his vision for the self-aware, snarky superhero.

"If the movie's sort of a Jenga puzzle, it could be one time you subverted the wrong emotional moment, you could send the whole arc of the movie or the character down," Leitch told Salon. "You have to pick the ones that you want to subvert, I think. And it has to be thoughtful to the story you're trying to tell."
