The 90's grunge alternative rock band performs an exclusive version of "Shine" for "Salon Stage."
Twenty-five years after their debut hit single "Shine" was released in 1993, the band has put out their first live album ever, "Collective Soul?Live," composed from over 160 live shows and available now.
To form the collection, the band combined the best performances of most of their songs, including a piano rendition of "Shine." The album includes Collective Soul's greatest hits energized by a live audience like "December," "Gel," "The World I Know," and an unreleased song, "Right as Rain."
Collective Soul formed after their breakout hit "Shine" got picked up on a Georgia State University radio station. People couldn't get enough of it. The song was crowned #1 Album Rock Song of 1994, won a Billboard award for "Top Rock Track," landed on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the '90s," and got Dolly Parton a Grammy Award for "Best Vocal Performance" on her 2001 cover. Collective Soul has avoided the one-hit wonder culture that plagued so many '90s bands in the past. Since then, they've been responsible for six #1 hit songs.
